What will happen after I have contacted you?

After you have contacted me via email I will email you to arrange a convenient time to call or I can answer any questions you may have via email. If you decide to book you can do so via phone or email. Whichever you choose I will send you some additional information and a form to complete via email and then your booking confirmation. When you get in touch you are welcome to ask me any questions you may have and take time to consider whether or not you feel that I may be the right counsellor for you. If you have contacted me by telephone and I am unable to answer please leave a short message and I will return your call as soon as I am able.


What is Counselling?

If you have never attended counselling before it can be really helpful to understand a little more about what it is. Counselling is a talking therapy where you will have the opportunity to talk about your difficulties, thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential environment. I will gently encourage you to talk about how you are feeling and what you would like to change in your life. Together we can explore how to help you move forward. My approach to counselling is flexible and based on what you feel ready and able to work on.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions needed varies from person to person and can be difficult to predict. Counselling is a process and in most instances a number of sessions is needed. I am able to offer short term counselling of approximately six sessions and longer term counselling. If you are attending longer term counselling we will always review how you feel you are progressing every six sessions. This review is also an opportunity to reflect upon how long you may wish to continue attending counselling sessions.When you choose to work with a me there is no limit to the number of sessions you can attend. 

How often will I need to attend?

Counselling takes time and commitment and is most effective when you attend regularly. For you to be able to make the most of our time together your sessions should ideally be weekly or fortnightly. As our work together progresses and we are working towards bringing the sessions to an end you may wish to attend less regularly.
